We’re excited to share an important update that enhances recycling access for your residents: WM has officially added plastic to-go cups and paper cups to our universal list of acceptable recyclable materials.

This change makes it easier than ever for residents to recycle items that were previously confusing or unclear.

We’ve made this progress possible—now we need your partnership to make it impactful.

To ensure residents get the message loud and clear, we’re challenging you to update your website in time for America Recycles Day on November 15th. Your actions are key to making cup recycling successful.

Here are some of the impactful changes you should make:

  1. Link to your community’s WM local service hub—a one-stop shop maintained by WM for accurate recycling info, service updates, and self-service tools and let us do the work for you.  Just include this link: home.wm.com/collier-county-fl
  2. Remove or update outdated recycling info from your site, including:

On the Recycling page (https://www.collier.gov/Resident-Resources/Solid-Waste/Recycling), revise “Items You Can Recycle” & “Residential Recycling” guidance:

  • Update Plastic guidance to “Recycle plastics by shape: bottles, jars, jugs, cups, and tubs.”
  • Update the paper products to include paper cups

Let’s work together to amplify this change and drive real impact.  If you need assistance implementing these updates, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help.
