Do you like medium-length walks on the beach during March/April and then again in September/October? Well, we have a program for you!

The Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch is a citizen science program where volunteers collect data that can help us better understand our local populations of horseshoe crabs. These prehistoric critters breed during spring and fall new and full moon high tides for the last 400 million years. Many animals rely on these crabs that aren’t even true crabs including the famous Red Knot Bird and us included! Horseshoe crab blood is used to test the sterility of medical products from vaccines, implantable devices and more.

Come on down to Rookery Bay on Friday August 29th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm to learn more about these fascinating creatures and find ways to help them out!
