Keep Collier Beautiful concluded 2025 with remarkable achievements in environmental stewardship and community engagement. Through strategic partnerships and volunteer dedication, the nonprofit advanced its mission to unite Collier County in combating litter, preventing debris accumulation, and promoting environmental education.

Community Litter Index Shows Progress

The 2025 Community Litter Index assessed 156 locations across Collier County, revealing a meaningful 2.3% reduction in the overall litter index score—from 1.73 in 2024 to 1.69 in 2025. This data-driven approach identified priority cleanup sites and guided volunteer efforts throughout the year. North Naples achieved the lowest score at 1.49, while efforts in Immokalee, Golden Gate Estates, and East Naples demonstrated the organization’s commitment to serving all county communities.

Great American Cleanup Sees Exceptional Growth

The Great American Cleanup on March 22 exceeded all expectations, with volunteer registrations jumping 76%—from 514 participants in 2024 to 908 in 2025. Across 17 site locations, volunteers collected 82% more trash than the previous year, filling bags and removing debris from beaches, parks, and canals. Sites identified through the Community Litter Index, such as the 951 Canal, received targeted attention from community groups like Naples Classical Academy and leveraged partnerships that strengthen KCB’s impact.

International Coastal Cleanup Expands Scope

The September 20 International Coastal Cleanup expanded to 20 site locations, including new canal cleanup partnerships with the South Florida Water Management District. Volunteers collected approximately 340 trash bags and nearly 340 pounds of debris. The event showcased strategic partnerships with organizations, including United Way of Collier and the Keys, St. John Neumann Key Club, The Healthy Earth Org, WastePro, and Walmart, demonstrating how collaboration amplifies environmental results.

Group Volunteer Program Drives Year-Round Action

Throughout 2025, Keep Collier Beautiful organized 25 group volunteer cleanups, providing ongoing opportunities for organizations to make tangible environmental contributions. Notable initiatives included a Publix partnership that mobilized 50 volunteers to address an abandoned campsite at 8080 Bayshore Drive, and continued engagement from local schools and civic organizations. These efforts ensured consistent progress on community environmental priorities.

2025 by the Numbers

  • 2,642 volunteers participated in annual cleanups and group events
  • 7,926 service hours contributed by volunteers and organizations
  • 1,078 trash bags filled during cleanup efforts
  • 8,272 lbs of debris collected from Collier County locations

Looking Forward

With momentum building and partnerships strengthening, Keep Collier Beautiful looks ahead to 2026 with ambitious goals. The organization will continue expanding canal cleanup awareness, pursuing new opportunities, and advancing its educational initiatives.
